Week 8: Anticipated Steps for final outcome
For this course we intend to develop an automated height detection system that would enable any robot to calculate the height of the object, individual etc., in front of it and take appropriate action. Such a system could also enable the development of smart appliances which adjust to the height of the user such as beds, car seats etc.
In our proposed methodology a camera would detect the height of an individual and send that data to the simulation of a humanoid robot which could then offer it's hand for a handshake, based on the height of the individual in front of it.
The steps we will undertake in order to accomplish this task is:
Step 1: Survey and review relevant literatures
Step 2: Build a Camera-based Height estimation software using Matlab/Python.
Step 3: Learn ROS
Step 4: Integrate the Matlab/Python developed solution with ROS
Step 5: Evaluation of the result generated
Step 6: Write final report
